Problem
Please you tell us what is the packet size of a call for the two Codec's used by HIPCOM?

Solution
The raw Codecs are:

G.711 = 64K
G.729 = 8K

With IP and UDP headers for transport added the stream on the wire makes the packets approximately:

G.711 = 85K
G.729 = 32K

Remember that you get a stream in each direction - so if you are on a G.711 call you will have a 85K up and 85K down RTP stream. Always give yourself some head room when calculating bandwidth requirements. The default Codec in use by HIPCOM is G.711 so spec your site accordingly - we will only switch to G.729 for a site under exceptional circumstances.
